How to set up your camera

Choose the angle that matches where you're filming from.

Offset the camera to one side of the backboard so the rim stays visible.

Either sideline works — position level with the free-throw line, pointing toward the hoop.

Height & stability

Aim for waist height (~3–4 ft). Keep the camera stable. A propped phone is also acceptable.

Quick check before you start

Run through these four before you hit record.

Head to feet — knees and ankles visible, needed for base & balance scoring.

Hoop and backboard visible
The rim should be in frame at your shooting spot.

Camera stable — no shake
Tripod or propped securely. Shake degrades elbow and wrist scoring.

Avoid backlighting
Outdoors: keep the sun behind the camera, not behind you. Indoors: avoid bright gym lights directly behind you — both create silhouettes that hurt pose detection.
